Retake cue words: mark bad takes out loud
Say “retake” or “one more time” when you mess up, and CueClip splits your transcript into numbered takes so you can keep the one you want.
The idea
When you flub a line, say a short phrase and start again. That phrase is a retake cue. CueClip uses it as proof of where a take ends, so it splits the transcript into numbered takes and lets you throw away the ones you do not want.
The built-in cues are:
- retake
- start over
- delete that
- one more time
Add, remove or turn off cues
- Choose Edit → Retake Cue Words… (⌘⇧T).
- Type a phrase, for example “take it from the top”, and add it.
- Remove a cue you do not use with the trash icon, or turn off “Group takes in the transcript” to read the transcript straight through.

Pick phrases you would never say in normal speech. A cue like “okay” would split your transcript in the wrong places.
Work with the takes
Takes appear grouped in the transcript. Choose the take you want to keep and CueClip removes the others. You can also preview what the cut will sound like before you commit.
Questions
What should I say?
Any cue in your list: “retake”, “start over”, “delete that” or “one more time” by default. Say it, pause for a beat, and re-read the line.
Can I use my own phrase?
Yes. Add it in Edit → Retake Cue Words…
Does CueClip still find retakes if I do not say a cue?
Yes. Remove Retakes also detects repeated sentences on its own. Cues make it more precise.
