Camera background, pop-out and framing
Remove your camera's background, pop out of a rounded frame, and keep your face centred in the camera bubble without cropping it by hand.
Open the camera settings
Click your camera in the preview. Camera & Screen Settings opens on the right with Layout, Background, Camera Shape, Camera Size and Camera Zoom.
Choose a background
Under Background, pick one of three looks:
| Option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Default | Your camera exactly as recorded, background and all. |
| Removed | You on your own, cut out from the background. Use Feather to soften the edge around you. |
| Pop Out | Your real background stays inside a rounded frame, and your head and shoulders rise above its top edge. |
The first time you pick Removed or Pop Out, CueClip works out the cut-out on your Mac and shows Removing background… with a percentage. You can keep editing while it runs.

Pop Out is not offered with two cameras or the camera-only layout. Removing the background needs macOS 12 or later.
Framing
CueClip finds your face and centres it in the camera bubble, and re-centres it when you change the shape, size or layout. Drag inside the bubble to frame it yourself. Once you have, Reset the camera crop appears so you can hand framing back to CueClip.
Questions
Does removing the background change my original camera file?
No. The cut-out is stored alongside the project. Switch back to Default at any time.
Does the background setting carry into export?
Yes. The exported video matches the preview, including Pop Out.
